Small B&B (1-4 chargers) typically £2,000 to £8,000. Boutique hotel (4-10) £8,000 to £25,000. Large hotel or holiday park (10+) £25,000 to £80,000. After WCS grant funding, costs reduce by up to 75%.
What grants are available for hospitality EV charging?
The Workplace Charging Scheme for accommodation businesses covers 75% of cost, £500 per socket, up to 40 sockets across all your sites. Open to hotels, B&Bs, holiday parks and campsites. Uniquely, guests, staff and visitors can all use the chargers. Open until 31 March 2027.
How long does installation take?
Typical projects run 4 to 8 weeks from initial survey to commissioning. We schedule installations around your operational calendar to avoid peak booking periods.
Can guests pay for charging at the point of use?
Yes. Guests can pay per kWh using contactless card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or our app. No subscription or account registration required. Alternatively, you can offer free charging to guests as part of their booking.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical supply?
Not always. We assess your existing supply and design systems that work within your current capacity where possible. Load management lets multiple chargers share available power intelligently. For larger installations we handle all DNO applications.
What happens if a charger breaks down?
We monitor all chargers 24/7. If a unit goes offline, we often know before your guests do. Remote diagnostics resolve most issues immediately. For hardware faults, we dispatch an engineer within 24 hours.
Can I generate revenue from EV charging?
Yes. Many properties charge guests a per kWh rate similar to or slightly below public networks. This positions charging as a guest benefit while generating revenue. Hotels with 10 or more chargers often generate £3,000 to £10,000 annually.
What happens when the grant scheme ends?
The Workplace Charging Scheme is open until 31 March 2027. After that date the grant closes to new applications. Starting your application well before the deadline secures your funding entitlement even if installation happens later.
