Cranbrook and Sissinghurst Parish Council had existing BP Pulse chargers at Jockey Lane Car Park. The chargers had stopped working and were out of action. Drivers arriving at the site expecting to charge were left with unusable equipment. For a public car park serving the local community, this was a problem that needed solving.
Parish councils work with limited budgets. Replacing the failed chargers with new infrastructure would typically require significant capital expenditure. The council needed working chargers but couldn't justify the upfront cost. Any solution had to remove the financial barrier completely.
Running public EV chargers is not just about installation. Someone has to handle the utility supply, manage payments, deal with driver queries, maintain the equipment, and keep the system running reliably. The council did not have the resources or expertise to manage this in-house. They needed a partner who could take full responsibility.
We removed the old BP Pulse chargers and installed a new charging network built for reliability. The site now has two Rolec Hex 22kW dual AC chargers, providing four charging bays for drivers who can top up while visiting Cranbrook. For those needing a faster charge, we added a Rolec 40kW DC rapid charger. Every unit has a contactless payment terminal, so any driver can pay and charge without needing an app or account.
We funded the entire project through our EV-ME model. The council paid nothing upfront. No capital outlay, no grant applications, no budget approvals required. We supplied the equipment, handled the installation, and took over the utility connection. The council gets working public chargers, and we manage the commercial side through a revenue share arrangement.
We did not just install and leave. We manage the entire operation. Driver queries come to us. Billing runs through our platform. Maintenance is handled by our team with 24/7 remote monitoring. The council receives quarterly reports showing usage and performance. They get a working public amenity without any of the operational burden. We handled everything from removing the old equipment to commissioning the new chargers. Signage and bay markings were completed as part of the project, so the site was ready for public use from day one.
Jockey Lane Car Park now has a working public charging network serving the Cranbrook community. Five charging bays are live, including a 40kW rapid charger for drivers who need a quick top-up. The failed BP Pulse units are gone, replaced with reliable Rolec hardware backed by contactless payment.
The parish council achieved this without spending a penny of public money. Our EV-ME model removed the financial barrier entirely. They now have a modern public amenity that supports EV drivers visiting the area, with zero ongoing admin. We handle the day-to-day operation, so the council can focus on serving their community.
