A new public charger goes live every 33 minutes. The ratio of EVs to chargers still sits at 17 to 1. The UK has over 86,000 public chargers and demand keeps growing faster than supply. Sites with public charging attract EV drivers. Sites without lose them to competitors.

49 percent of UK chargers are destination chargers at retail, leisure and hospitality venues. EV drivers plan journeys around charging availability, dwell time increases when charging is available, and a single well placed charger can generate over £14,000 in annual revenue.

Destination charging serves drivers at places they already visit: shopping centres, leisure facilities, tourist attractions, and public car parks. Unlike motorway rapid chargers, destination chargers work while people shop, exercise, eat, or explore. Drivers arrive, plug in, and go about their day.

The gap between what drivers need and what is available keeps widening. Retail parks, leisure venues, and car park operators with charging infrastructure gain a competitive advantage, and the funding model is yours to choose.

We bring EV charging to every public space.

We specialise in EV charging for businesses. Practical expertise, turnkey delivery from design to completion, and management that does not stop at handover.

The business case for destination charging.

Four reasons it pays to install

Demand keeps growing faster than supply, and destination venues are where drivers want to charge. Four reasons it pays to install now.

Explore the four reasons
Reason 01

Attract the drivers who plan around charging

EV drivers plan journeys around charging availability and actively choose destinations where they can charge. A retail park with chargers pulls in drivers who might otherwise go to a competitor.

Reason 02

Longer visits, more spend

Charging visitors stay longer. A Savills and Pod Point case study across 29 UK retail sites found visitors using chargers stayed 1.5 to 2 hours against under an hour for a typical visit.

Reason 03

Revenue from a static asset

A well placed public charger can generate over £14,000 per year. Car park operators turn underused spaces into an active revenue stream, funded by us or owned outright.

Reason 04

Zero capital risk if you want it

The EV-ME fully funded model covers hardware, installation, grid connection, insurance and support. You provide the site, we share the revenue, and your capital stays in your business.

How public charging gets funded.

No direct government grants exist for commercial public chargepoints, so the funding route is the real decision. We work all three, run the numbers for your site at survey, and you decide. Where staff and company vehicles also charge on site, the Workplace Charging Scheme can still contribute £500 per socket.

Route 01

Own It Outright

You fund the installation and keep 100 percent of the charging revenue. We design, install and maintain the network, and you hold the asset. The strongest return for high footfall sites.

Route 02

Lease

Spread the cost over fixed monthly payments and keep the charging revenue. No capital outlay at the start, the equipment is maintained through the term, and ownership options apply at the end.

Dual AC and rapid DC EV chargers installed at Jockey Lane public car park in Cranbrook, Kent

Jockey Lane, Cranbrook. Zero upfront, live and earning.

When the BP Pulse units at Jockey Lane failed, Cranbrook and Sissinghurst Parish Council needed working chargers without capital spend. We replaced the network under the EV-ME model: four AC bays, one rapid DC charger, contactless payment on every unit, and the utility supply taken over. The council paid nothing upfront, and we handle every driver query.

upfront for the council

EV-ME funded the hardware, installation and supply takeover. The council shares the revenue and we operate everything.

Revenue

What is the revenue potential from public EV chargers?

A well placed public charger can generate £14,000 or more per year, and retail sites with high footfall often exceed it. We provide projections for your site at proposal stage.

Footfall

Can EV charging increase footfall for retail and leisure?

Payments

How do public EV charging payments work?

Contactless as standard. Drivers tap their bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, pricing displays in pence per kWh before the session, and receipts are emailed automatically.

Hardware

What is the difference between rapid and fast charging?

Fast chargers at 7 to 22kW suit venues where visitors stay two hours or more. Rapid chargers at 50kW plus add around 100 miles in 30 minutes for high turnover sites. Most venues want a mix.

Timeline

How long does public EV charger installation take?

Typically 6 to 12 weeks from approved design to commissioning. Complex sites with DNO upgrades take longer. We coordinate around your operations throughout.
