Living with the myenergi app.

The Zappi V2 runs on the same myenergi app as the rest of the ecosystem. Live energy flows for the whole house, green contribution tracking, and charging that follows your tariff or your own solar, with eddi and libbi in the same dashboard if you add them later.

The myenergi app home dashboard for smart energy management
The myenergi app monitoring zappi, eddi and libbi devices in real time
The myenergi app smart charging preferences and schedules screen
The myenergi app renewable energy optimisation dials

What you control from the app

Whole ecosystem
One app for the charger plus eddi, libbi and hub devices
Energy management
Household power distribution and consumption on live animated displays
Monitoring
Live and historical data for every myenergi device
Renewable optimisation
Maximise self consumption and track your green contribution
Charging preferences
Charge on tariff rates, on your own green energy, or both
Intelligent scheduling
Programme devices to run when energy is cheapest
Device prioritisation

Our honest take on the myenergi Zappi V2.

The Zappi is the charger that made solar EV charging normal, and we have fitted a lot of them. ECO+ mode is still the party trick: the charger sits and waits until your roof produces more than the house is using, then feeds exactly that surplus into the car. Free miles, measured honestly.

The V2.1 fixed the old complaints. WiFi and Ethernet are built in so the extra hub is gone, and the on charger display means you can drive it entirely without a phone, which some owners genuinely prefer.

It is a big, functional looking unit, and that is really the only mark against it. If the wall is on show, look at the GLO. If you want the most proven solar charger in Britain and do not mind the size, this is it.

Where it wins

  • The most proven solar EV charger in the UK
  • ECO+ charges from pure surplus, genuinely free miles
  • On charger display, fully usable without the app
  • British made, CT clamp included in the box

What to watch

  • The largest and heaviest unit on this page
  • Function first looks next to the GLO or Hypervolt
  • Needs a stable internet connection for the smart features

myenergi Zappi V2 questions, answered.

Does the Zappi need solar panels to work?

No. FAST mode charges from the grid like any 7 kW charger, and it works with Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime. Solar is what it is famous for, not what it requires. Many customers fit the Zappi first and add panels later.

What do the Zappi ECO and ECO+ modes actually do?

ECO blends solar surplus with a little grid power to keep charging steadily. ECO+ is stricter: it pauses charging entirely until your panels generate more than the house is using, then charges from that surplus alone. ECO+ is how you fill the car for free on a sunny day.

Does the Zappi V2 need a myenergi hub?

Not any more. The v2.1 has WiFi and Ethernet built in, so it connects to the app directly. Only the original zappis needed the separate hub.

Should I choose the tethered or untethered Zappi?

Tethered comes with a 6.5 m cable ready on the wall, which suits daily charging at home. Untethered has a universal Type 2 socket, which looks tidier and suits households whose cars might change. We talk this through at the survey.

Other chargers we install.

Every charger on this page comes with the same survey, installation by our own engineers, certification and aftercare. Only the hardware changes.
