The free EVO app keeps the British workhorse simple. Live energy flows for solar, home and car, ECO and ECO+ solar modes, and off peak schedules you set once. There is no native Octopus or OVO link, so scheduling is manual against your tariff window, and the app makes that painless.

Our honest take on the Rolec EVO.

We install Rolec at scale on our commercial projects, so we know this manufacturer better than most. The EVO is their home unit and it inherits the same practical DNA: tough enclosure, sensible wiring bay, quick to fit neatly, and a UK factory behind it when you need a part or an answer.

On paper it undercuts everything here while carrying a 5 year warranty, solar ECO modes and dynamic load balancing with the CT included. That is a serious specification for the money.

The honest trade off is tariff integration. There is no native Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO link, so smart tariff users schedule charging in the app against their off peak window instead. It works, it just is not automatic. For value, build quality and warranty, nothing on this page touches it.

Rolec EVO questions, answered.

Does the Rolec EVO work with smart tariffs like Intelligent Octopus Go?

Not natively. The EVO does not appear on the Intelligent Octopus Go or OVO Charge Anytime device lists. You can still charge cheaply on any time of use tariff by scheduling charging in the EVO app to match your off peak hours; it is simply a manual setup rather than an automatic one.

Can the Rolec EVO charge from solar panels?

Yes. ECO and ECO+ modes charge from your surplus solar generation, with ECO+ using surplus alone for a free charge. It needs the solar CT clamp kit, which we fit during installation.

How long is the Rolec EVO warranty?

Five years as standard, which is the joint longest warranty on any charger we install and two years more than Easee, Ohme, Hypervolt or myenergi offer as standard.
