What Affects the Cost
The biggest variable is your existing electrical infrastructure. Buildings with adequate supply and short cable runs sit at the lower end of the range. Sites needing supply upgrades or long cable routes cost more.
Cabling is often the largest hidden cost. Runs up to 10 metres are typically included in standard quotes. Longer distances add £200 to £500 per additional run, especially if trenching across car parks or reinstating tarmac is required.
A DNO supply upgrade, if needed, adds £2,000 to £5,000 on top. We assess this during the initial site survey so there are no surprises.

Cost by Business Size
Small business (2 to 5 chargers): £7,000 to £25,000 before grants. Usually works within existing electrical supply. Fixed costs like survey and project management are spread across fewer units.
Medium business (5 to 15 chargers): £12,500 to £60,000 before grants. Shared cabling and infrastructure bring the per unit cost down. Distribution board upgrades are common at this scale.
Large business (15+ chargers): Total costs can reach six figures before grants. Per unit costs drop to £2,000 to £3,500 as infrastructure is shared across more charge points. These projects benefit most from the EV Infrastructure Grant.
After Grant Funding
The Workplace Charging Scheme provides £350 per socket. The EV Infrastructure Grant adds up to £500 per parking bay for passive infrastructure, plus £350 per active socket, capped at £15,000 per site.
A medium business installing 10 chargers could receive £13,500 in combined grant funding. Both schemes close on 31 March 2026.
