How the Scheme Works
You apply online through the OZEV portal and receive a voucher code within 5 working days. That voucher is valid for 180 days. You then share the code with an OZEV approved installer, who deducts the grant value directly from your invoice.
You pay the reduced price upfront. The installer claims the funding back from the government on your behalf. No separate paperwork for you.

Who Is Eligible
The scheme is available to businesses, charities, and public sector organisations across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. You must have dedicated off street parking where the chargers will be installed.
All chargepoints must support staff or fleet charging. You cannot use this grant for public charging stations. The chargers must be installed by an OZEV authorised installer.
State-funded education institutions claim a higher rate of £2,000 per socket through the same scheme.
What It Covers
The grant pays £500 per socket or 75% of total costs, whichever is lower. A business installing 10 sockets receives up to £5,000 off their invoice. The maximum claim across all sites is £20,000 (40 sockets at £500 each).
The rate was uplifted from £350 to £500 on 1 April 2026. It applies to installations completed from that date.
This funding covers the charger hardware and installation costs. The previous EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets, which covered cabling and groundworks separately, closed to new applications on 31 March 2026. The Workplace Charging Scheme is now the single funding route for workplace EV charging.
The scheme is open to new applications until 31 March 2027.
