What Closed
The EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets was the main funding route for workplace EV charging infrastructure until 31 March 2026. It paid up to £15,000 per site, with a split of £500 per provisioned parking bay and £350 per active socket. It covered 75% of eligible costs.
OZEV closed the grant to new applications on that date. There is no direct successor scheme for the per-site infrastructure cap. The decision was to consolidate workplace funding into a single route.
Pending applications submitted before the closure can be claimed by installers until 26 May 2026, with a final resubmission deadline of 6 July 2026.
What Replaced It
The Workplace Charging Scheme is now the single OZEV grant for workplace EV charging. It existed before 1 April 2026 alongside the Infrastructure Grant, but the rate was uplifted from £350 to £500 per socket on that date to partly offset the closure.

For a 10 socket workplace installation, that is £5,000 in grant funding. For a portfolio business installing 8 chargers at each of 5 sites, the maximum is £20,000.

What It Means in Practice
The change reduces total grant value for most workplace projects compared to the old Infrastructure Grant. A 10 socket workplace installation that previously qualified for around £13,500 in combined funding now receives £5,000.
For multi-site operators, the 40 socket portfolio cap allows phasing across locations. A business installing 8 sockets at each of 5 sites can claim the full 40 sockets at £500, totalling £20,000.
The cabling, distribution upgrades, and groundworks that the old grant covered as separate line items are no longer separately funded. Workplace projects with significant civil works carry those costs directly.
How the Application Process Has Changed
The Workplace Charging Scheme process is faster than the old Infrastructure Grant. You apply online and receive a voucher within 5 working days. The voucher is valid for 180 days.
Your installer claims the grant directly on completion of the install. You see the grant value applied to your quote from day one and pay the reduced price upfront.
