Mini Pro 2: the app is gone
The EO Smart Home app stopped talking to the Mini Pro 2 on 30 November 2025. EO announced it in July 2025 and it happened on schedule. From that date the app cannot see the charger, cannot start or stop it, cannot show session history, and cannot push a schedule.
EO did two sensible things on the way out. It cleared every app schedule so nobody was left with a charge that would never start, and it unlocked every unit so nobody was left with a charger they could not use.
What you have now is a charger that starts when you plug in and stops when you unplug or the car is full. Load management set up on the unit still runs, because it never depended on the cloud.
If you want cheap overnight charging back, set the schedule in the car, or use your energy supplier’s app if your tariff has one. It is less tidy than it was. It works.
Mini Pro 3: different app, still working
The Mini Pro 3 did not have to lose smart control. It changed provider. In July 2025 EO handed the Mini Pro 3 app experience to ev.energy, and ev.energy’s own FAQ notes that an owner who chose not to move across is left with a plug and charge unit, so if yours never migrated, that is the reason.
- Units installed on or after 7 July 2025 register directly with ev.energy from day one.
- Units installed before that were migrated automatically from 4 August 2025, with ev.energy contacting owners.
So if you have a Mini Pro 3, the app you want is ev.energy, not EO. The old EO app will not help you, and that confuses a lot of people who bought the charger before the change and never saw the email.
ev.energy also handles the smart charging support: schedules, tariff integration, and the “my charger is offline” articles. That side of the Mini Pro 3 has a live company behind it, which is more than can be said for the hardware warranty.
”The app says offline” is not “the charger is broken”
This is worth saying plainly because it drives a lot of calls. On both models the charger charges without the app. The app only controls and reports.
If the light on the front is pulsing blue and the car charges when you plug in, the charger is fine and the problem is the connection between the charger and the internet. On the Mini Pro 3, ev.energy’s guidance is to switch the charger off at its breaker and back on, then reconnect through the charger’s own hotspot and web page, and it notes the Wi-Fi signal at the charger needs to be reasonably strong, above roughly 20 per cent in the app’s own reading.
If the light is red, or there is no light, the app is not the issue and you are looking at a fault. Our page on what a red light on an EO Mini Pro means covers that.
What we can and cannot do about the app
We cannot bring the EO Smart Home app back for a Mini Pro 2. Nobody can.
We can get a Mini Pro 3 back onto ev.energy when the problem is Wi-Fi reach, a router change, or a unit that was never commissioned onto the platform properly.
And where you want smart charging on a Mini Pro 2, the practical answer is a swap to a supported charger that works with your tariff. We will price that honestly against keeping what you have.
