The Grant Closed on 31 March 2026
The EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets was the main OZEV funding route for fleet EV charging infrastructure until 31 March 2026. It paid up to £15,000 per site, with a split of £500 per provisioned parking bay and £350 per active socket. It covered 75% of eligible costs for SMEs with fewer than 250 employees.
OZEV closed the grant to new applications on that date. There is no direct successor scheme for the per-site infrastructure cap. Fleet operators now use the Workplace Charging Scheme as the single route for fleet grant funding.
What Replaced It
The Workplace Charging Scheme is now the funding route for fleet and depot EV charging. It was uplifted from £350 to £500 per socket on 1 April 2026, partly to offset the closure of the Infrastructure Grant.
Under the Workplace Charging Scheme you can claim £500 per active socket, covering up to 75% of the purchase and installation cost. You can claim for up to 40 sockets across all your depots and sites. The scheme runs until 31 March 2027.
For a typical depot installing 10 chargers, that is £5,000 in grant funding. For a multi-site fleet operator claiming the full 40 sockets across locations, it is £20,000.

What It Means for Your Fleet Project
If you had planned around the Infrastructure Grant, the economics have shifted.
The per-site £15,000 cap is gone. Funding is now socket-based at £500 each, capped across your portfolio at 40 sockets.
Cabling, trenching, and distribution upgrades are no longer separately funded by a government grant. The Workplace Charging Scheme covers charger purchase and installation only. Depots with significant groundworks now carry more of that cost directly, although operational savings from depot charging versus public networks typically exceed the loss of grant value.

If You Applied Before the Deadline
If you submitted an EV Infrastructure Grant application before 31 March 2026, your installer has until 26 May 2026 to complete the claim on the old portal. The final resubmission deadline for any queries is 6 July 2026.

The Depot Charging Scheme
The Depot Charging Scheme, which provided much larger grants for commercial fleet operators, closed in November 2025. There is currently no replacement for that funding level. Larger fleet electrification projects are typically structured around the Workplace Charging Scheme plus operational savings rather than grant funding alone.
