The Two Grants Can No Longer Be Combined
Until 31 March 2026, fleet operators could stack two OZEV grants on the same site. The EV Infrastructure Grant funded cabling, trenching, and groundworks up to £15,000 per site. The Workplace Charging Scheme added £350 per socket for chargepoint hardware. On a typical fleet project this could mean up to £29,000 in combined funding.
That combination is no longer possible. The EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets closed to new applications on 31 March 2026. Fleet EV charging is now funded through the Workplace Charging Scheme alone.
The Current Funding Route
The Workplace Charging Scheme is now the single OZEV grant for fleet EV charging. The rate was uplifted from £350 to £500 per socket on 1 April 2026.

What It Means for a Typical Fleet Project
Before the closure, a depot installing 10 chargers over a 15 bay infrastructure could claim around £10,000 from the Infrastructure Grant plus £3,500 from the Workplace Charging Scheme. Total £13,500.
After the closure, the same project claims 10 sockets × £500 = £5,000 from the Workplace Charging Scheme alone.
The per-project grant value is smaller. For multi-site fleet operators, the 40 socket cap across all sites means portfolio-wide planning matters more than per-depot calculations.
If You Applied Before 31 March 2026
Installer claims for pending Infrastructure Grant applications submitted before the closure must be completed by 26 May 2026. The final resubmission deadline for any queries is 6 July 2026.
