Recommended Charger Types
7kW Type 2 Socket Chargers
The standard for apartment installations. Delivers a full overnight charge for most EVs. That is 35 to 40 miles per hour of charging. Compatible with all electric vehicles sold in the UK. Cost effective, reliable, and eligible for OZEV grants.
Twin Socket Units
A single unit with two charging outlets. Ideal for communal parking where two vehicles can share one installation point. Reduces infrastructure cost per socket while maximising grant value. Load management shares power between both outlets.
Tethered vs Untethered
Untethered chargers have a socket only with no cable attached. These are preferred for apartment buildings. Residents use their own cable. This reduces vandalism risk and maintenance. Tethered units work better for dedicated bays where the same vehicle parks every day.

Key Features to Look For
Smart Connectivity
Essential for apartment blocks. Smart chargers connect to management platforms that handle billing, access control, and load balancing. Non smart chargers cannot be used for shared charging scenarios.
Load Management Compatibility
The charger must work with dynamic load management systems. This allows buildings to install multiple chargers without overloading the electrical supply. All chargers we install integrate with our load management platform.
OCPP Compliance
Open Charge Point Protocol is the industry standard for charger communication. OCPP compliant chargers work with multiple backend platforms. You are not locked into one provider. We only install OCPP compliant hardware.
IP Rating
Outdoor chargers need IP65 or higher for weather resistance. Underground car parks can use IP54. We specify the appropriate rating based on your installation environment.
Brands We Work With
We install chargers from several manufacturers including Easee, Alfen, Wallbox, and Project EV. Each brand has strengths for different scenarios. We recommend based on your specific requirements. Not on manufacturer incentives.
What We Do Not Recommend
We avoid consumer grade chargers designed for single homes. These lack the smart features and durability needed for shared environments. We also avoid proprietary systems that lock you into one management platform.
