TL;DR

The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is expected to open to the public from September 2026, subject to lender and product approvals. Lenders started applying to join in June 2026, with loan products approved through July and August. Some in the industry expect the first consumer loans to land later in the autumn. There is nothing to apply for yet.

The Expected Start Date

The scheme is being built in stages. Lenders applied to take part from June 2026. Product approval, where each lender gets its loan signed off, runs across July and August 2026. Loans to the public are expected from September 2026.

The government calls these timings indicative. Some in the industry expect the real launch to land later in the autumn. Treat September as a target, not a promise. We will update this page as gov.uk confirms each step.

Why There Is Honest Urgency

The funding is a central pot, shared first come first served. When forecasts show about six months of money left, the government gives six months notice, then a final one month notice before it closes.

The pot will close at some point. Early movers get the best chance of a subsidised rate before the money runs low. That is the real reason to prepare now, ahead of the launch date itself.

What to Do Before It Opens

There is nothing to apply for today. The loans come from FCA regulated lenders, not from evon and not from the government directly. No consumer rates have been set, so nobody can promise you a figure yet. Anyone collecting applications for this scheme right now is not the scheme. Be careful with your details.

What helps is a loan ready quote. The scheme rules ask for a dated quote with an itemised cost breakdown, the installer MCS number and the system size in kW. Our quotes already meet that checklist. Get one now and you can move the day lenders launch. For the full picture, see our guide to the Warm Homes Loan Scheme.
