RELATED: Who qualifies for the Warm Homes Loan Scheme?
How Landlords Are Covered
The Warm Homes Loan Scheme is open to owner occupiers and to private rented sector landlords. For landlords, the loan is taken on a personal lending basis. That means you borrow as an individual, not through a business.
Normal credit and affordability checks apply, the same as any consumer loan. Fit solar or battery storage at a property you let, and the install can be financed through the scheme. An SPV is a special purpose vehicle, a company set up to hold property. Borrowing held that way is not covered by this route.
More Than One Property
Landlords with several homes are not limited to a single loan. You can take a loan per property. Own five rentals, and each can carry its own Warm Homes Loan for eligible upgrades.
Each property is assessed on its own. The borrowing sits with you personally rather than with a company. Portfolios held inside a limited company or an SPV are not eligible on this basis.

No EPC Bar, No Income Test
There is no minimum EPC rating set by the scheme itself. There is no income threshold and no property type restriction at scheme level.
Lenders may add their own conditions once products launch, so an individual lender could ask for a certain EPC or affordability profile. The scheme rules do not impose one. For landlords facing tightening rental standards, financing solar and battery storage installation this way is worth planning around.
What to Do Now
No consumer rates exist yet. Lenders set them after product approval, so we cannot promise a figure. The loans come from FCA regulated lenders, not from evon or the government directly. evon does not offer, arrange or advise on credit.
There is nothing to apply for yet, and anyone collecting applications today is not the scheme. Get a loan ready quote now for each property, itemised, with our MCS number and the system size in kW, so you can move the day lenders launch.
