Why B&Bs Fit So Well
The scheme asks for a business with dedicated off street parking, and a B&B with a guest car park is precisely that. The small accommodation exemption then removes the staff only restriction that binds ordinary businesses, so your guests, the whole point of the exercise, can charge legally on the funded sockets.
At B&B scale the whole project is small and quick. One or two wall mounted chargers, often on the building itself, a day’s installation, and a listing on the maps that EV drivers use to choose where to sleep. For a six room property, one booking a month won on the amenity repays the after grant cost inside a year.
Free or Charged, Your Call
Small properties split both ways. Free charging as a headline amenity, hotels with free EV charging is a real search with real loyalty attached, or a modest tariff around 35p per kWh that covers the electricity with margin. The hardware does either, and switching later is a settings change. Most B&B owners we install for start free and see it repaid in reviews.

The Practical Path
Free survey, one visit. Application prepared by us, submitted by you, vouchers valid 180 days. Installation in a day, listings live the same week. The scheme runs until 31 March 2027, and at £500 a socket the only bad time to look at it is after it closes.
