Most schools land on one of three patterns. Staff only is the simplest, sockets respond to registered staff through RFID cards or the app and nobody else can start a charge. Staff plus visitors adds a guest flow, reception grants a session to the supply teacher or the visiting educational psychologist who needs a top up. Fully open adds public tariffs out of hours, which is where the revenue model lives.
The hardware does not change between these. Access rules live in the charging platform, so a school can start staff only and open up later without touching the car park again.
The Drop Off Question
The honest concern behind this question is usually parents at drop off, and the answer is design, not technology. Charging bays sit in the staff car park or a corner away from the drop off flow, well marked, so a parent topping up during assembly never blocks the morning circuit.
For events, parents’ evenings, fairs, matches, guest access earns its keep. Visitors charge while they are on site, the school sets the tariff, and the platform handles payment without anyone at reception taking cards.

What We Set Up on Day One
Every school installation leaves with access control configured to the school’s policy: staff registered, guest flow tested with reception, tariffs set if the school wants them, and an admin login for the business manager. Changing the policy later is a settings change, and we support it as part of the service.
